ACCOMMODATION
 There are
a huge number of clean and
safe budget guesthouses, mid-range and luxury hotels in McLeod Ganj and
the surrounding villages of
Dharamkot, Bhagsu and Naddi. The same is true of restaurants.
Since it is not possible to stay at Tushita unless you're taking one of
courses (including just before or after the course), we are often asked
for nearby recommendations, but it is our policy not to
recommend any specific
guesthouses, hotels or restaurants (we are a
small team of busy volunteers, not travel agents!), so please consult
you travel Guide Book for more information.
 We can however
give you some tips: Firstly, please be assured that
there are MANY places to stay; you will have little difficulty in
finding somewhere in town that matches your budget and required comfort
level, even without having made a reservation; it's
rarely done any other way! Almost everyone staying in the area arranges
accommodation on arrival, and only the most expensive (fancy!)
hotels accept advance reservation.
If you would like to be close to Tushita
we recommend that you stay in
Dharamkot, a small village 5 min. from Tushita. If you would like to
stay in McLeod
Ganj it's a steep 20min walk uphill (or 50 rupee rickshaw ride) to
reach Tushita.
If you are a bit flexible about time and money, just come and have
a look around! Depending on the season (March - June
being busiest) you should have many options.
However, if you prefer the less spontaneous option or would like to try to book
ahead, below is a short list
of some of
the many hotels and guesthouses in McLeod Ganj (a basic internet search
will find you lots more, though of course the webpages you'll find will
generally have been set up by travel agents and you will probably
pay a much higher rate than you would if you just turned up and
shopped around).
Please
contact the hotel / guesthouse directly (this is all the information
and assistance we can give you!), and remember that most guesthouses
won't accept advance reservations anyway.
