Tushita was deeply honoured to welcome Yangten Rinpoche to confer the Chenrezig Initiation on May 27th 2014, as preparation for our annual series of 8 Nyung Nay Retreats. The first Nyung Nay had 20 hardy participants.
We were also profoundly fortunate in having Geshe Kelsang Wangmo translate the initiation from Tibetan into English for us. You can see photos from this event on our Facebook page, here.
This was the first time that Yangten Rinpoche had been to Tushita, and we very much hope that it won’t be the last.
Yangten Rinpoche was born in Kham, Tibet in 1978. He was recognised as a tulku aged 10. In 1990, at the unusually young age of 12, he entered the Geshe program at Sera Mey Monastery and graduated with a Geshe Lharampa degree (with distinction) in 2006, aged only 28.
In 2008 Rinpoche was called up by His Holiness the Dalai Lama to work in His Holiness’ Private Office and has assisted His Holiness on many projects, including being selected to to compile a book on Buddhist Science, from the Kangyur and Tengyur.
Yangten Rinpoche also composed a long-life prayer entitled “Panacea of Pure Nectar” for Lama Zopa Rinpoche, following his illness in 2011, which you can read here. You can also see a poem written by Yangten Rinpoche called “I Love You, my enemy “here.

Tushita is a centre for the study and practice of Buddhism from the Tibetan Mahayana tradition. We're located in Northern India, in the forested hills above the town of McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala - the seat in exile of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
Tushita aims to provide a friendly and conducive environment for people of all nationalities and backgrounds to learn about and put into practice the teachings of the Buddha. With this in mind we offer regular drop-in events and courses on introductory Buddhist philosophy and meditation, as well as intermediate level courses and group retreats for more experienced students.
