Daily Guided Meditations
We offer drop-in guided meditations led by experienced students:
- Monday to Saturday (no sessions on Sunday or during short courses)
- @ 9:00 am (IST) for around one hour, with time afterward to ask questions (optional!)
- “Hybrid events” – participate either by dropping-in at Tushita or online via live zoom (or video recordings).
What Type of Meditation?
These sessions are suitable for complete beginners and those who have more familiarity with meditation.
There are various types of meditation in Tibetan Buddhism, and we practice a few of them in these drop-in sessions, with an emphasis on stilling the body & mind and exploring the nature of attention. We recommend that beginners read “What kind of meditation is practiced at Tushita?” on our Frequently Asked Questions page.
To Participate Online

To Attend a Drop-In Meditation at Tushita
Registration is not necessary, just drop-in. There will be a donation box at the back of the hall and we welcome any contribution you’d like to make.
How to Find the Venue
The location of these meditation sessions changes depending upon what other courses or events are happening at the time, but we put up signs to point you in the right direction. The main sign is posted on the window of our reception office. We change this sign according to the location that day (or to remind you that it’s Sunday!), so look for this when you arrive.
We have also made some other signs to assist you in finding the right location. They’ll be dotted around the path to the place where the meditation will be held that day. They have been lovingly painted with YELLOW ARROWS, so follow them!
Silence is Requested
Please be aware that there will probably be a residential course running at the time of your visit so, to help others, please keep silence while at Tushita, do not enter any other Gompa where a course is taking place, and try not to be late for this session!
Also, while you are more than welcome to visit our library or use a vacant gompa for your private (self-guided) meditation practice, we kindly ask that you do not hang around chatting after the session as this will disrupt any residential courses that are running.

About Tushita
Tushita is a centre for the study and practice of Buddhism from the Tibetan Mahayana tradition. We're located in Northern India, in the forested hills above the town of McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala - the seat in exile of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
Tushita aims to provide a friendly and conducive environment for people of all nationalities and backgrounds to learn about and put into practice the teachings of the Buddha. With this in mind we offer regular drop-in events and courses on introductory Buddhist philosophy and meditation, as well as intermediate level courses and group retreats for more experienced students.
