with Venerable Jamyang
August 11 – 16, 2020
This course is open for beginners and experienced students alike!
We have the illusion that we are free – that we can choose what we do with our life, where we go, who we are with, what we eat, and so forth. This is what we think, but in reality we are not free. When we learn to know our mind, we begin to understand that in actuality we are controlled by our attachment.
Due to our lack of control over our disturbing emotions, we have expectations that are not in accordance with reality; we project our beliefs onto the world and think that this is reality itself. We keep looking for satisfaction in material objects even though we know we cannot find it there. By following our attachment we create many problems for ourselves and others.
Lama Yeshe said: “Knowing our own mind is the solution for our problems.” In this course we will discuss the nature of the mind and how the mind works. You will learn about the chattering voices in your head and how to relate to them skillfully. You will receive tools to develop your ability to examine your mind. When you understand your mind, control follows naturally. Self-analysis is like shining a light on our inner world; it opens the way to genuine freedom.
