August 8 – 16, 2018
Led by Venerable Drolma.
While on a spiritual path, it is often nice to have some variety in our practice. Prayer and ritual are excellent ways to practice Dharma in addition to study and meditation. Tibetan Buddhism is filled with tools to engage the body, speech and mind in different ways.
In this course we will explore different aspects of the practice of Tibetan Buddhism. Some of the practices we will learn about include: Prostrations to the 35 Buddhas, Praises to the 21 Taras, Shakyamuni Buddha practice, Sutra recitation, Water bowl offerings, Offering the Mandala, and Medicine Buddha puja.
This course will give retreatants a chance to do the practice and at the same time receive an explanation about the words and actions involved.
In addition, there will be time to deepen your calm abiding meditation practice. Concentration is the basis of any practice used to tame the mind. The mind is often likened to a field in which the ground must be prepared if spiritual realizations are to take root and grow. These practices make the mind ready to learn and grow in the Dharma.
In this course we will also learn the preliminary practices done when one is preparing the mind to practice tantra.
If you are interested in the various rituals, pujas, and prayers that are used to purify and enhance the field of the mind, then this is the course for you.
