Discover Your True Nature

with Venerable Lhundup Jamyang

August 2 – 12, 2021

(Plus Bonus Day for Sponsors on August 13)

No classes on Saturday & Sunday

This is an intermediate course, suitable for students who have attended one of our 10-day Introduction to Buddhism courses or have taken the full online program, The Buddhist Path of Training the Mind and Going Deeper: The Buddhist Path of Training the Mind.

The way we learn to be successful and happy brings us often to a place of restlessness, unhappiness, and dissatisfaction. We might feel that we are a failure, that something is wrong with us, or that we don’t deserve to be successful.

The actual cause of our dissatisfied mind is our inability to see the nature of reality as it is. We are blinded by our ignorance. Due to this we are vulnerable to a conditioning that is not aligned with reality, and therefore doesn’t have the capacity to bring us what we set out for. Our identification with the self, our emotions, and our deep seated limited beliefs keeps us trapped in cyclic existence.

This course touches on both the level of the heart and the view. We will explore the nature of the mind on the conventional and the ultimate level. You will learn techniques that will help you to live more in accordance with your nature. These will help you to bring your mind to a place beyond hope and fear, where you experience the natural peace of just being present. When the mind aligns with this natural balance, the body also relaxes, releasing patterns of attachment and aversion to reclaim the present moment with freedom and ease.

Teacher

Ven. Lhundup Jamyang was born in the Netherlands in 1961, and worked for 12 years as a physiotherapist with children. In 1997 she came into contact with Buddhism at Tushita Meditation Center in Dharamsala. It was here that she realized she had a strong connection with Lama Zopa Rinpoche. In 2000 she took ordination at Kopan, after which she went to Australia to study the 5-year Basic Program at Chenrezig Institute. In 2007 she went to Buddha House, Adelaide, where she worked as SPC and teacher. In 2009 Rinpoche advised her to study the Madhyamakavatara, which was taught at Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa, Italy, as part of the Masters Program. She completed the MP at the beginning of 2017, including the one year retreat requirement. She is co-writer of the study manual for the Madhyamakavatara, and has been painting thangkas for over 20 years.
