Healing and Transforming Emotions 2022

Healing & Transforming Emotions

Led by Venerable Drolma

May 19 – 27, 2022

Registrations for our residential courses and retreats are open now! Due to covid-19 precaution only limited spaces available and deposits required for all residential courses / retreats.

This is an intermediate course, suitable for students who have attended one of our residential 10-day Introduction to Buddhism courses or have completed the 2-part online program: The Buddhist Path of Training the Mind AND Going Deeper: The Buddhist Path of Training the Mind.

My concern is that if we allow ourselves to be anxious and afraid, emotionally disturbed, we’ll only produce more confusion within ourselves. When we’re confused, we spread confused energy to others and the environment. Bringing peace to the world is no small task.  Even though you’re concerned, occasionally fearful, your fear does not come from an underlying, ever-present, emotional disturbance.

– Lama Yeshe

Healing and Transforming Emotions is a course about how best to manage those times when our emotions are overwhelming.  At these times it can seem like our minds are completely out of our control and we are left to suffer the disturbance without any relief.  In this course we will be learning techniques for intervening when we have strong feelings as well as ways to prevent those states from arising again in the future.  The view of the course is that emotions are positive aspects of our lives, but when they get out of control, what can we do?

Requirements to Join the Retreat

One should have participated in a 10-day residential introductory course to Tibetan Buddhism, such as those offered at Tushita Meditation Centre and Kopan Monastery (or similar Lam Rim studies and practice).

Or completed both parts of Tushita’s online program (as offered from March 2020 – March 2022):

  • The Buddhist Path of Training the Mind – Recordings
    AND
  • Going Deeper: The Buddhist Path of Training the Mind – Recordings

The links, above, take you to Youtube playlists of the 10th instance of these courses in March – April, 2022. Recordings of all instances are linked from Programs > Online Program.

This is a full time residential course. Participants are asked to commit to attend the full course and to abide by the course discipline, such as keeping silence.

About Tushita

Tushita is a centre for the study and practice of Buddhism from the Tibetan Mahayana tradition. We're located in Northern India, in the forested hills above the town of McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala - the seat in exile of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

Tushita aims to provide a friendly and conducive environment for people of all nationalities and backgrounds to learn about and put into practice the teachings of the Buddha. With this in mind we offer regular drop-in events and courses on introductory Buddhist philosophy and meditation, as well as intermediate level courses and group retreats for more experienced students.
