Special Teachings with Geshe Thupten Palsang

October 25, 27, 28, 2018

2 – 4 pm

Please join us for special guest teachings with Geshe Thupten Palsang!

Geshe la will teach on the following topics each day:

October 25:  Dharma Teaching with Q&A

October 27 & 28:  Emptiness

These teachings are open to All levels. No registration is required!

The teachings will be in Tibetan with English translation by Geshe Kelsang Wangmo.

Please be aware that we have a large course and group retreat in silence on the 25th. We request your help to support our students by mindfully maintaining silence while here at Tushita for this teaching. This includes to please not use any mobile phones, laptops, cameras etc at Tushita. Also taxis are not allowed to enter Tushita – please leave your taxi at the Himalayan chai shop (next to the Vipassana Centre entrance) and walk into Tushita.

We are able to host this event thanks to the generosity and kindness of previous students and guests. Any donations are appreciated and will enable us to offer more amazing Dharma activities in the future!

About Geshe Thupten Palsang

Geshe Thupten Palsang la was born in 1965 in Nyishang / Manang in Nepal. In 1975, he became a monk and spent a few years at Tsechogling Monastery (below the OM Restaurant in McLeod Ganj, where he is living today). In 1980, he joined Drepung Loseling Monastery and started his Geshe studies culminating in receiving the Geshe degree. During his studies he became widely known in Drepung, Ganden and Sera for his acute intelligence and profound understanding of the scriptures.

Owing to his ill-health Geshe la moved back to Tsechogling Monastery in 1997 to receive medical treatment (while studying, Geshe la contracted TB, from which he never fully recovered).

Geshe la is recognized as an extraordinary teacher and meditator, having done numerous retreats over the last 20 years. This experience has resulted in Geshe la being known for his profound comprehension of emptiness, and unique style of teaching which transforms some of the most difficult philosophical concepts to become easily understood and accessible.

Geshe la has also extensively read the sutras and composed  a two-volume book in which he provides the sutric sources of the Lam Rim Chenmo. He is very close to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and is frequently called to join His Holiness during philosophical discussions with other scholars. Geshe la is an expert on the Pure Realms and has written two books and given several teachings on the subject.

About Tushita

Tushita is a centre for the study and practice of Buddhism from the Tibetan Mahayana tradition. We're located in Northern India, in the forested hills above the town of McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala - the seat in exile of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

Tushita aims to provide a friendly and conducive environment for people of all nationalities and backgrounds to learn about and put into practice the teachings of the Buddha.
