Venerable Lhundup Jamyang

Celebrate the New (Tibetan) Year with the Days of Miracles!

Bouncing Back

March 7, 2022 @ 4:00 pm (IST)

Life can bring us challenges, and sometimes we have the feeling that these are bigger than we can handle. The last two years particularly have been challenging for most of us. We have been experiencing the first noble truth the Buddha taught, which is that life is in the nature of suffering. Sickness and deaths were headlines almost every day. We might have experienced loss – of a loved one, our income, or our carrier. We might have been uncomfortable with the way our life has changed, and the lack of control we had in this. Or we might be longing for the good old days, knowing that this won’t come back. It might be difficult to stay positive and to know how to move forward from this in a healthy way.

How do we bounce back from adverse circumstances? In this talk we’ll look at some of the techniques that Tibetan Buddhism offers that can help us to have a positive attitude and outlook with respect to our own situation and the world.

Teacher

Venerable Lhundup Jamyang was born in the Netherlands in 1961, and worked for 12 years as a physiotherapist with children.

In 1997 she came into contact with Buddhism at Tushita Meditation Center in Dharamsala. It was here that she realized she had a strong connection with Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

In 2000 she took ordination at Kopan, after which she went to Australia to study the 5-year Basic Program at Chenrezig Institute. In 2007 she went to Buddha House, Adelaide, where she worked as SPC and teacher.

In 2009 Rinpoche advised her to study the Madhyamakavatara, which was taught at Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa, Italy, as part of the Masters Program. She completed the MP at the beginning of 2017, including the one year retreat requirement.

She is co-writer of the study manual for the Madhyamakavatara, and has been painting tangkas for over 20 years.

About Tushita

Tushita is a centre for the study and practice of Buddhism from the Tibetan Mahayana tradition. We're located in Northern India, in the forested hills above the town of McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala - the seat in exile of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

Tushita aims to provide a friendly and conducive environment for people of all nationalities and backgrounds to learn about and put into practice the teachings of the Buddha. With this in mind we offer regular drop-in events and courses on introductory Buddhist philosophy and meditation, as well as intermediate level courses and group retreats for more experienced students.
