On Losar Day we also honor the anniversary of FPMT founder Lama Yeshe’s passing away. Following Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s advice, we started the tradition of inviting older students who knew Lama to share their favorite stories about Lama Yeshe to keep his memory alive.

Venerable Robina is well-known for her intense energy, deep compassion and no-nonsense manner of expressing her profound understanding of Buddhist philosophy.
Venerable Robina became a student of Lama Yeshe and was ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist nun in 1978. After spending the the early part of her life studying classical singing, being involved with the radical left/feminist activism and then, in her quest for a spiritual path, studying martial arts.
Ven. Robina has worked full time since then for Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s FPMT. Over the years she has served as editorial director of Wisdom Publications, editor of Mandala Magazine, executive director of Liberation Prison Project, and as a touring teacher of Buddhism. Her life and work with prisoners have been featured in the documentary films Chasing Buddha and Key to Freedom.
Since 1987 she has taught Buddhist courses and retreats at FPMT centres worldwide.
Tushita has been incredibly fortunate to have a close relationship with Ven. Robina for the last 4 decades and to have her residing as our resident teacher between April 2010 and April 2011.
