2014
It has been a long-term wish for Tushita to be able to improve its personal retreat facilities, to provide more supportive and conducive conditions for practitioners wishing to do personal retreat. We’ve been setting plans for our new Retreat Huts in motion for some time, but construction finally began on Monday April 21st 2014!
In accordance with Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s advice, important pujas to prepare the site were performed on Friday April 18th, by monks from Gyudmed Monastery. The pujas were Tara, 4 Protector, and Druk.chuma.
There will be 3 huts and they will be worked on simultaneously. Workers are currently excavating the 3 plots in preparation for the foundations being installed. It’s a tricky balance as the lower part of our property becomes a building site, while we continue courses and meditation retreats above!
Fundraising for this project also begins a new phase.
While sponsorship for one of the huts has been secured, we’re still seeking financial support to complete all 3 huts. As well as reaping the extensive merit of such Dharma-related generosity, Tushita also offers free retreat time to sponsors who donate over 1 lakh rupees (around US $1,700).
Two huts will be 8m x 4m
One hut will be 7m x 4m
You can see designs for the 8m x 4m hut above and see more information about the history of this project by clicking here. We have also made a poster for our fundraising project here.
If you are interested in supporting this project, we’d be delighted to hear from you. For more information, please email Tushita’s Director on [email protected]

Tushita aims to provide a friendly and conducive environment for people of all nationalities and backgrounds to learn about and put into practice the teachings of the Buddha.
