Rejoice & Enjoy Our New Online Course

April 2020

Dear Dharma friends from around the world,

Tushita was founded 48 years ago being the second centre in our worldwide organization, FPMT. In accordance with Buddhist practice, we have been able to offer the Dharma free of charge to students from India and around the world (requesting a nominal amount for room & board).

We have been diligently keeping statistics and crunching numbers from 2009 to 2019 and would like to share the results of our extensive activities by way of graphs and pie charts. We now invite you to take a moment to rejoice with us on how we’ve been able to connect and be of benefit to so many people.

Please visit and enjoy our inspiring stats page – not just for nerds!

If you are unable to come to us, we are happy to come to you. In these challenging times we have launched free online programs. There has been a very favorable response, far exceeding our expectations. We have reached 1700 students in 71 different countries, connecting with Andorra for the first time!

Up to now, we have been able to offer our programs due to generous donations from our residential students and sponsors. Here in India, we are currently experiencing a strict lockdown for one month, with no end in sight. This prevents us from hosting our usual residential programs and due to this, we are not able to make ends meet. We need your help to survive in order to continue to provide Dharma activities for everyone.

Therefore we are offering an unique fundraising course “Healing with Compassion” with a very special teacher. Venerable Tenzin Legtsok, an American monk, who is studying in his sixteenth year of the Geshe Program at Sera Monastic University, which follows the Nalanda tradition. For the past ten years he has made the Buddhist teachings accessible to various audiences from India and around the world through lectures, essays and meditation instruction.

Your participation in this course and generosity will enable Tushita to continuously provide our extensive range of free Dharma programs in the future. All contributions will be deeply appreciated. No amount is too small!

Healing with Compassion

with Venerable Legtsok

April 20 – 25, 2020 (plus Bonus Day for sponsors on Sunday, April 26th)

What Will We Learn?

It’s like the world has turned upside down. In the midst of so much sickness, uncertainty and hardship what can we do for the well-being of ourselves and others?

All actions begin in our own minds. Compassion is an attitude that unflinchingly looks at the misery there is and resolves to do whatever we can to end it. Compassion gives us courage, hope, resilience, a sense of purpose, and most of all connects us to all others in a way that comforts and uplifts them.

In this course combining instructions, meditations and group discussions, we will explore ways to use the current world situation as a powerful catalyst for deepening our innate compassion and focusing our lives in the best ways we can to benefit ourselves and others.

About Tushita

Tushita is a centre for the study and practice of Buddhism from the Tibetan Mahayana tradition. We're located in Northern India, in the forested hills above the town of McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala - the seat in exile of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

Tushita aims to provide a friendly and conducive environment for people of all nationalities and backgrounds to learn about and put into practice the teachings of the Buddha. With this in mind we offer regular drop-in events and courses on introductory Buddhist philosophy and meditation, as well as intermediate level courses and group retreats for more experienced students.
