April 5th 2014
Led by Glen Svensson
This workshop is scheduled as a supplement to the teaching given by Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo on April 4th.
Shamatha is the practice of developing single-pointed concentration, developing a calm, clear and focussed mind. This practice is essential if we are to subdue and heal our agitated and unruly mind, to become masters of our mind.
During this one day workshop we will become familiar with and practice shamatha meditations using the breath as our main object of focus. We will also learn how to overcome faults in the practice and how to integrate shamatha practice into our daily life.
We will supplement this with the practice of the Four Immeasurables. Shamatha practice becomes most effective if we combine it with opening our heart through the practice of loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy and equanimity.
Students will keep silence for the entire event.
