Oct
2013
In October 2013, new marble plaques were installed at Geshe Rabten‘s stupa. You can see photos of these plaques above, and of the stupa today, below right. We used one of our favourite quotes from one of Geshe Rabten’s books:
Buddhism is neither the strange tradition of some foreign lands, nor a method to flee from one’s responsibilities, nor a collection of dry words in books and libraries. Buddhism is solely to be understood as a means to overcome mental suffering and to accomplish one’s own and others’ well-being”
The stupa was built shortly after Geshe Rabten passed away in Switzerland in 1986, and below left you can see a photo taken during its construction. We had come to feel that the Stupa required a little more information about Geshe Rabten for the many people who pass by every day. This stupa is located at the bottom of the steep path to McLeod Ganj and is therefore on the main pedestrian highway to Tushita!

About Tushita
Tushita is a centre for the study and practice of Buddhism from the Tibetan Mahayana tradition. We're located in Northern India, in the forested hills above the town of McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala - the seat in exile of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
Tushita aims to provide a friendly and conducive environment for people of all nationalities and backgrounds to learn about and put into practice the teachings of the Buddha. With this in mind we offer regular drop-in events and courses on introductory Buddhist philosophy and meditation, as well as intermediate level courses and group retreats for more experienced students.
