Emptiness & Compassion

Nagarjuna’s Mulamadhyamika-karika in the 21st Century

June 19 – 29, 2018

Advanced course led by Geshe Keslang Wangmo

This is an 11- day ADVANCED course.

Pre-requisites to join this course are: having previously taken an Introduction to Buddhism course AND an Intermediate-level course at Tushita, Kopan Monastery or a similar Lam Rim course.

The Mulamadhyamika-karika (Fundamental Wisdom) is one of the most important works by Nagarjuna. It is also an essential text of the Nalanda tradition of Buddhism. As it is very extensive His Holiness the Dalai Lama usually presents the meaning of this work by teaching a few of its chapters in a specific order.

During this course, we will discuss the same chapters based on the explanation given by His Holiness and other great masters. We will particularly focus on their relevance in our daily lives and in the development of love and compassion. The course is suitable for advanced students of Buddhism. It is taught in English and provides analysis and discussions, question and answer sessions, guided meditations, and time for reflection. The course material will be made available to the participants.

About Tushita

Tushita is a centre for the study and practice of Buddhism from the Tibetan Mahayana tradition. We're located in Northern India, in the forested hills above the town of McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala - the seat in exile of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

Tushita aims to provide a friendly and conducive environment for people of all nationalities and backgrounds to learn about and put into practice the teachings of the Buddha. With this in mind we offer regular drop-in events and courses on introductory Buddhist philosophy and meditation, as well as intermediate level courses and group retreats for more experienced students.
